Our Story
A Blood Moon occurs when the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun are in exact alignment. The convergence of these distinct celestial bodies to create a stunning natural effect inspired the creation of Blood Moon Orchestra (BMO). Conceived by the Emmy-winning multi-instrumentalist Vân-Ánh Vanessa Vō in 2012, BMO collaborates with highly accomplished traditional musicians from all over the world to innovate, experiment, and create new sounds for the modern world. BMO became a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization in 2021 in order to expand its operations and cultural impact. Under the artistic direction of Vân-Ánh Vanessa Vō, and through groundbreaking musical partnerships and meaningful educational programming, BMO aims to become a leader in building music communities that span across genres and generations.
